ENVY Board President

Karalee Picard, EdD, ACC

Dr. Karalee Picard serves as ENVY's Chief of Staff and Director of Development (a full-time volunteer role). A leadership consultant and retired Department of Defense senior intelligence leader, her career has spanned continents — from U.S. Navy service deployed at sea post-9/11, to 13 years with the DoD in England, to Omaha, where she earned her doctorate in organizational culture & change at Creighton University.

Through her consulting practice, Karalee supports Vistage boards, nonprofits, and government offices in strategic planning, human-centered leadership, communications, culture transformation, and AI project management. She also coaches individuals through career transitions and high-stakes decision-making.

An active community leader, Karalee recently served Trustee on Brownell Talbot’s board, and as President of NE Zen Center – a Buddhist organization in Omaha, and she has leadership roles in a local Rotary Club & District.

Her connection to ENVY is foundational — she sought a positive, growth-centered club for her daughter, and that vision sparked the creation of ENVY Volleyball.

Brings extensive experience building teams, scaling organizations, and driving strategic development across emerging and established brands. Known for clear communication, accountability, and implementing disciplined systems that support long-term sustainability.

Parent in the program and strong advocate for youth athletics. Lives by the principle, “Be greater than average,” believing growth comes through intentional effort and consistent action.

Executive Director (ex-officio)

Mike Picard

Mike Picard is a Navy and NATO Special Operations veteran, entrepreneur, and the Founder and Executive Director of ENVY Volleyball Club. After more than a decade living and working overseas, Mike returned to the United States in 2016, purchased a small business, and rekindled a lifelong passion for volleyball as a volunteer coach for his daughter's middle school team. That passion, combined with a drive to do things differently, led to him being named USA Volleyball National Youth Coach of the Year in 2022 — and ultimately to the founding of ENVY.

ENVY was born from a simple but powerful conviction: that every young athlete deserves access to patient, positive, high-quality coaching — regardless of financial circumstances. As Executive Director and Head Coach, Mike has built ENVY into a nonprofit club that combines competitive excellence with a scholarship program, free coaching clinics for volunteer parent coaches, and a culture that puts the whole athlete first.

He holds an MBA and is also the owner of American Structures Company and Atlas Group Omaha, an umbrella company spanning property management, commercial cleaning, real estate, and government contracting.

Secretary

Kera Rees

Kera Rees is a human resources professional, dual Canadian-American resident, and passionate advocate for youth athletics in the Omaha community. She works within the Canadian arm of Kiewit Engineering Group's HR services division — one of North America's largest engineering and construction organizations — supporting the people-first culture that defines Kiewit's operations.

Kera came to ENVY not as a former athlete or coach, but as a mom who watched her daughter flourish. Having witnessed firsthand the confidence, discipline, and belonging that a positive club environment builds in a young athlete, she became one of ENVY's most genuine advocates — bringing an authentic, parent-centered perspective and a professional commitment to people and culture to everything she contributes to the organization.

Director

Steve Ryan

Steve Ryan is a U.S. Air Force veteran, entrepreneur, and Omaha business leader who co-founded Atlas MedStaff in 2013 — growing it into a leading healthcare staffing firm driven by a people-first culture and a daily commitment to continuous improvement. He holds a B.S. in Finance and Banking from the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Outside the office, Steve's world revolves around his four daughters — two of whom have competed as ENVY athletes, and one who has stepped into a youth coaching role with the club. That lived experience as a volleyball dad shapes his genuine, enthusiastic support for ENVY's mission to build confidence, sportsmanship, and belonging in young athletes.
